  • Community aid is available for residents needing food, rent and utility help during the holiday season. Local resources include calling the 211 hotline for food assistance and scheduling an appointment with the Huntsville Assistance Program (open Monday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.) for emergency support.  The Madison Record

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Eli Lilly will invest over $6 billion to build a new manufacturing plant on a 260-acre site at the northeast corner of Interstate 565 and Greenbrier Parkway, set to begin in 2026 and finish by 2032; the project will create 450 high-value and 3,000 construction jobs.  WAAY 31

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Beasley Brothers – celebrating their 10th annual show – will perform a family-friendly Christmas concert at Dream Theatre on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m., featuring Christmas classics, modern hits and original tunes.  The Madison Record
  • Suzette Smith, a local artist with work at Holiday Card Lane, created 'Gingerbread Lane,' a festive scene of gingerbread houses and Christmas trees with a nod to the historic Madison city clock on Main Street; her card will stay on exhibit through December at the Madison Community Center.  The Madison Record
  • EarlyWorks Children’s Museum hosts 12 Nights of Santa from today through Tuesday, Dec. 23 in downtown Huntsville.   • U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth visits Redstone Arsenal today with Air Force Secretary Troy Meink to unveil U.S. Space Command's new signage at 2:30 p.m., a step that advances plans to relocate the headquarters from Colorado to our area.  1819 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Madison coach Juan Johnson will serve as an assistant for the Alabama All-Stars at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic on Dec. 13 at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, Miss. He plans eight practices over four days to prepare the offense for a fifth straight win.  The Madison Record
  • Madison’s top high school swimmer Christian Wester, a James Clemens senior and University of Delaware scholarship recipient, will compete in four individual races and four relays at Speedo Winter Junior Nationals in Indianapolis later this week—he aims to finish in the top eight for his main event.  The Madison Record
  • More than 5,000 runners are set to take part in the 49th annual Rocket City Marathon this weekend in Huntsville, where five races will be held. The 26.2-mile course will see 1,772 athletes from 48 states and six countries test their endurance.  The Madison Record
