  • Downtown Huntsville’s Tinsel Trail is open at Big Spring Park every hour through Dec. 31, offering residents a festive holiday stroll. This local event brings charm and seasonal spirit to the community.  WAAY 31

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant secured a 20-year license extension from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, ensuring stable power + continued local jobs. The approval supports energy reliability and economic growth in the region.  FOX 54

EDUCATION NEWS

  • College students and recent graduates are invited to attend a holiday career fair on Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 2 to 5 p.m. at The Atrium at Redstone Federal Credit Union in Cummings Research Park where more than 30 local employers will offer full-time, co-op, and internship opportunities.  Huntsville Business Journal

  • A new sign was unveiled at Redstone Arsenal on Friday, Dec. 12, marking the planned headquarters for U.S. Space Command (a step toward future operations).  WAAY 31
  • Rep. Dale Strong said the USPS will temporarily add staff at its busiest North Alabama post offices to ease a holiday backlog this season, aiming to improve service during the peak period.  WAFF 48
  • Pete Hegseth visited U.S. Space Command headquarters in Huntsville on Dec. 12, 2025 (just one day before today), where military officials provided a brief overview of the command's priorities.  WAAY 31

HEALTH NEWS

  • Madison Hospital Wellness Center members are worried after officials announced Monday that the facility will close on January 4, 2026; they now must travel to Jones Valley Wellness Center (the only remaining option in the system), raising concerns about access to essential health services.  WAFF 48
  • Celeste Bradley, a 25-year-old local resident, became quadriplegic after a routine procedure led to severe sepsis and the amputation of her hands + feet yesterday. She now works toward gaining independence as she recovers.  WAAY 31
