  • North Alabama veterans read the classic 'Twas the Night Before Christmas on Dec. 22, bringing holiday cheer to local residents (planned by community organizers).  WAAY 31
  • AAA predicts that more than 122 million Americans will travel this holiday season (including busy airports and roadway congestion impacting local routes). Huntsville residents should plan ahead as travel delays are expected.  WAAY 31
  • U.S. Army 1st Lt. Henry Lynn from Huntsville shared his holiday greeting—complete with a Minnesota Vikings shoutout—while serving overseas on Dec. 22. He sent warm wishes to family and friends back home.  WAAY 31
  • On Dec. 22, West Huntsville celebrated the opening of a new recreation center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by city leaders (highlighting a fresh venue for local fitness and fun).  WAAY 31
  • The Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville reached $100 million in grants (since its founding in 2008), with more than 78% of funds benefiting local nonprofits in Huntsville and North Alabama.   • An electrical fire on Saturday destroyed a home on Claremont Drive in Elkmont, and neighbors rallied to give donations + supplies to help Bethany Gonzalez, Elfrem Hill, and their kitten, who escaped safely.  WAAY 31

  • United Launch Alliance said CEO Tory Bruno resigned after 12 years to pursue another opportunity — interim CEO John Elbon will now lead the company. The change was announced on Dec. 22 from Huntsville.  WAFF 48

  • Caroline and Matt Bell welcomed premature baby Harrison at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children. In the NICU, volunteer Lynn Bell — known as Ma Bell — provided soothing care so the family can soon celebrate Christmas together.  WAAY 31
