CRIME NEWS

  • Huntsville Airport warned travelers on Wednesday, Jan. 14 about scam calls in which impersonators promised free airline tickets and requested personal details.  WAAY 31

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Huntsville Music Office and Parks & Recreation will host the free Voices of Hope and Power choral concert on Saturday, Feb. 7 at Cavalry Hill Community Center. The event features performances by Oakwood University’s Dynamic Praise choir and choirs from Alabama A&M, Lee High School and Jemison High School.  City of Huntsville

  • FOX54 is reviewing customer complaints from the Tennessee Valley to determine if electric rates increased compared to last year.  FOX 54

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Momentum announced Huntsville’s second Upward leadership class for women from diverse industries. Orientation starts in February 2026 (a nine-month program to boost professional and personal skills) as the initiative supports local leadership growth.  Huntsville Business Journal
  • UAH professor Emil Jovanov, who retired Jan. 1, is elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors for his work in wearable health monitoring. He will be honored at the NAI conference in Los Angeles on June 4.  Huntsville Business Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman visited MSFC today and met with the Huntsville team as part of his tour of the agency’s major facilities — a move that sets a fresh tone for future space exploration.  FOX 54

SPORTS NEWS

  • Huntsville City FC has scheduled two exhibition matches at Wicks Family Field, with a Feb. 21 game against UAB (tickets are $10) and a March 28 free game against UAH, and will hold open tryouts for players 18 and older on Jan. 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. CT.  FOX 54
  • Auburn's new head coach Alex Golesh will headline LAUNCH 2026, a statewide tour offering Auburn fans cocktail hours, buffet dinners, exclusive interviews and auctions. The Huntsville event takes place at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center on Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  FOX 54
  • Navendra Woods (formerly the DC in Huntsville) has been named head football coach at Lee and will lead the team as they prepare for the upcoming season (starting soon).  WAAY 31
