EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Kay Ivey signed a record $12.1 billion education package on Monday that funds K-12 and higher education with $375 million for high-needs schools and launches the new RAISE Act to add extra funding per student starting this fall — she also approved a $3.7 billion General Fund budget that increases support for Medicaid, courts, and state troopers by 10%. - ➤ Alabama’s First Class Pre-K program earned national recognition for the 19th year after it met all 10 quality benchmarks in the NIEER report, and Governor Kay Ivey with the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education noted that the program now serves more than 24,000 children in nearly 1,500 classrooms across all 67 counties — proving its strong commitment to quality early learning.
