ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A person died when a car struck a pole on North Memorial Parkway in Huntsville at 10:52 p.m. Sunday night—according to Don Webster with HEMSI. WAAY 31
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Bank Independent has named Penny Camp, its executive vice president and newly appointed chief administrative officer, to Leadership Alabama Class XXXV (a prestigious statewide program for top leaders). The program begins in October in Montgomery (with sessions scheduled in Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile) to foster strong collaboration among leaders. Huntsville Business Journal

- ➤ Huntsville police responded to a domestic dispute on Friday outside an apartment on University Drive and found 21-year-old Samora Cameron Tyler who admitted to shooting her boyfriend during a heated argument—officers detained her and took the injured victim to a hospital for treatment. WAAY 31
- ➤ A vehicle struck a pole near Mastin Lake Road NE on North Memorial Parkway in Huntsville around 10:52 p.m. on Sunday—killing one person according to HEMSI spokesperson Don Webster. WHNT News 19
- ➤ A pedestrian was struck by a car on Highway 72 West near Paramount Drive on Sunday night—first responders arrived at about 11:30 p.m. and confirmed he died at the scene. WAAY 31
- ➤ On Sunday, Huntsville police arrested 38-year-old Edward Deon White after a standoff at the 4400 block of Patton Road when shots fired into an occupied apartment struck the building with no injuries, and officers charged him with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling with a $30,000 bond—authorities said he refused to communicate during negotiations. - ➤ Randy Owen — the 75-year-old lead singer — and his band Alabama will begin their 2026 One Last Bus Tour at the Orion Theater in Huntsville on Saturday, August 23. This show is the only event in the state and marks what many consider a farewell tour. 1819 News
- ➤ Vive le Livre 2025 will feature science fiction author Andy Weir at the Jackson Center—6001 Moquin Drive in Huntsville—on Sept. 24 with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. followed by a dinner and keynote address, and the proceeds will support programs at library branches. The Madison Record
